I took my friend for a birthday lunch on Tuesday 5th Feb. Unfortunately the meal was really awful. No-one asked until the table was cleared if everything was ok. When we said actually no we'd not eaten most of it as it was cold and the bread rolls were really dry. The waitress simply said we should have said earlier and she would 'have done something about it'. There was no apology and I felt that the response was very poor. I certainly won't be visiting again.
Unfortunately we had a bad experience eating in the Groes Wen Inn, some of our food was burnt and some just didn't match the menue. The staff were lovely and refunded where appropriate. The pub it's self has a lovely welcoming atmosphere with two little log burners going. Hopefully we will have a better eating experience if we come back in the future
Popped in for a beverage whilst passing. Having already eaten food elsewhere, didn't sample the main menu but did indulge in a dessert. Lovely warm, rich chocolate brownie with toffee ice cream.Lovely classic interior, to be expected of a Vintage Inn, with a good vibe. Staff were great too, very friendly, chatty and welcoming!
My wife and I have visited the Groes Wen Inn for many years now and have never experienced a bad meal or service until now 18/11/18. Not sure if they have lost their regular chef or trying to train a new one? Staff were polite and friendly enough but lacked experience. My beef roast was okay but not what we usually have here. Beef was dry, as if it had been under a hot lamp for far to long. My veg was over cooked and the parsnips seemed to been deep fat fried? Roast potatos hadnt been roasted long enough. No cauliflower cheese but did see some coming out again by the time we were on our desserts which were very good!It didnt seem to be overly busy but there were other customers also having a disappointing experience, a lady on a nearby table sent here beef roast back twice and then ended up changing it to a hunters chicken. Two tables either side of us were also complaining about their roast. We hope this is a one off as we do love stopping off here a few times a year for food and up until now have always had a great meal with good service. Will return again in the new year...
Really nice food.little more to pay but not the usual microwave to table menus of the cheaper pubs. Mine host was welcoming and oh joy... The menu were not covered in sticky gunk which is why I left a nearby pub and found this one. Will definitely visit again. An oasis of calm . Mm
